Autumn/Winter 2010 - Tips and Trends
Autumn/Winter Fashion & Style
As we come into fall, i can notice including my self everybody trying to hold on to the minimal amount of summer we had with still rocking those boat shoes and loafers shorts and tee's, well unfortunatley people the weather is changing the leaf's are falling and its time to look to layering and keeping the body warm. With this i am going to concentrate on keeping some of summers style and trends and introduce it to winter with more layering and style.
I think there is a tendency amongst men to associate Autumn/Winter with a couple of key themes and to stick to them religiously. Yes, it’s a great time layer up but when you end up looking like the Michelin man every day there comes a time when a simple overcoat will just do the job. The same applies for accessories such as scarves, hats and gloves. They are great for these windy months but sometimes wearing them all together is a bit too much, why not try and have a designated day for each item?
Stefano's Ten Tips
My idea is to give simple steps with simple style to keep looking fresh but warm for these coming cold months. If you can re-use what you had from previous winter then ideal but otherwise get shopping.
1.
Skinny Jeans ideally dark colours for the dark months we saw a huge increase of the skinny washed denim look through spring and summer but as the day's dull lets pull those grey skinnys and simple black. These are ideal for everyday tee and hi-tops or boots or even dressed up with a white shirt and blazer or tee and cardi and leather jacket.
2.
Round Neck Jumper, Thick nit will be popular through the winter months keeping us as warm as possible but without effort to be sporting your grandfathers home brand. these can be ideal for wearing over a shirt button to the top or tie/bowtie
3.
As i meantion in tip 1 a cardigan can be a mans best friend when cold and windy so again let's not steal our grand parents but sport a thick nit with possibly a hood or a waist tie.
4.
Scarfs, It can be awkard at times putting together a outfit when putting scarfs, hats, gloves all together but i think you should keep to 1 or 2 of these never all 3. but a college preppy striped scarf will be popular. as well as snood scarf-hoods these kill two birds with one stone!!
5.A well fitting trench coat – this one I’m sure you guys already knew about! They are everywhere at the moment. The reason I put this in is because it’s pretty much essential for the A/W this year and because I wanted to suggest that you get one in a camel tone if at all possible. The colour was all over the runways this season and should be considered in everything from chinos to blazers – but a trench coat is the easiest way to incorporate it into your wardrobe.
6.You need some tweed – Whether it’s on a blazer, overcoat or suit trousers this is the material to be seen in for the colder months. I personally prefer a tweed blazer because it goes great with dark denim jeans and a dress shirt, but as long as it’s in a grey tone of you will be able to pair it with anything.
7. Hi-tops/Sky-tops/ Brogue Boots/ Desert Boots
I think these are a must for winter when those loafers and boats have been put to the side and your indecided what shall i wear on my feet with skinny jeans or drop crotches, for a casual look or smartened up with a trench coat or a typical barbour coat.
8.
Denim, This has been popular for the last several seasons but it's still going no where denim jackets denim shirts. Denim is thick and will keep you warm.
9.
Socks.... you can still wear your loafers... dont worry gentlemen just make sure you got some black socks in them a nice pair of skinny jeans with them you can pull them off.
10
Drop Crotch... these are still popular and will stay key for winter months and look great with some hi-tops and boots. Kharki colour for desert boots.
Here are some simple tips for coming months hope this helps.

Winter Trench
As winter comes and we see the leaves fall... the trenchy must come back out... not something that is always going to keep us at that nice tempature our body likes to be at but deffiantly layering up under neath can distort the shape of the coat so try to avoid wearing any thick nit underneath. I think everybody should deffiantly have one of these for a windy/rainy day to keep that news reporter edge.....

Tweed
Tweed is going to be very popular for the winter months whilst the weather is cold you can still pull a elegant look without to much layering by wearing a thicker blazer/jacket by wearing tweed.. not the cheapest item to buy but something that should always be in the wardrobe.. if you want to find a nice tweed blazer some second stores or charity shops may have a unique find. It may not be the best fit but thats what a tailor is for!!
